What started as continuous changes to the HTML and profile song on my Xanga and Myspace accounts in 2003, turned in to a real love for social media and the incredible affect it can have on our lives. It also happens to be something I'm pretty darn good at.
Creating a Facebook page for the Checkers Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization I managed, on a whim in 2015 led to directing social media for Brave Step, another non-profit organization, for over four years in a volunteer capacity.
It was kismet when my teammate left for maternity leave not long after I started as the Events Manager at the Humane Society of Charlotte and I was asked to cover HSC social media channels in her absence. The passion I have for creating content and sharing our story led to me being asked to take on social media full time in conjunction with managing HSC events. After some soul searching I left my full time position and jumped into part time and contract work. I am so glad that I made the leap! I love being able to assist multiple clients in the non-profit sector.
